Nils D. Christoffersen is the Executive Director of Wallowa Resources, a community based non-profit working to sustain working lands and livelihoods in eastern Oregon. Over the past 18 years, Mr. Christoffersen has managed the development of Wallowa Resources’ watershed stewardship and education programs, as well as their for-profit subsidiary investments in biomass and renewable energy businesses. He helped establish, and continues to participate in, Rural Voices for Conservation Coalition – which provides a voice to rural leaders across the western states in federal policy, particularly as it relates to public land.
Prior to joining Wallowa Resources, Nils spent seven years in southern Africa supporting the development of community based natural resource management. This built on earlier field work in forestry, fisheries and livestock management in Europe and Australia. He has a BA (Economics) from Williams College, and a MS (Forestry) from Oxford University. Nils served on the National Commission on Science for Sustainable Forestry (2003-2008), and currently serves on the Oregon Board of Forestry, World Forestry Center Board, and the Enterprise School Board.
