Aimée Ihirwe is a senior at Howard University, studying Sociology and political science with a concentration in International Affairs and a minor in German. In 2022, Aimée studied abroad in Accra, Ghana, where she learned about Africa’s economic development, globalization, and women in development. She most recently studied abroad in Berlin, Germany, where she took an intensive German language course and courses on European conflict and integration, migration, and German History. Aimée currently serves as a delegate on Howard University’s Model United Nations. She has interned for Future Now, the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX), and the Council on Foreign Relations. After graduating from Howard, Aimée will pursue a master’s degree in international relations. She plans to work in the U.S. Foreign Service and utilize her language proficiency in Kirundi, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, English, and German to improve relations between the U.S. and African countries, in addition to strengthening transatlantic relations.
