Alice Margie Turner is the Founder and CEO of URISE Ventures, Inc. Originally founded in 2003, URISE is an innovative nonprofit with a unique approach to workforce and economic development. The award-winning program engages Opportunity Youth in business, technology, and entrepreneurship through a simulated business venture known as Urban Tekk.

Prior to her leadership role with URISE, Alice worked as a corporate training executive for Travelers, Cigna, and MetLife Insurance Companies.

As an advanced certified entrepreneurship educator, Alice has advised and led high school students to local, regional, and national business plan and technology competitions sponsored by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), Start-Up Weekend, Junior Achievement and Connecticut Innovations.

Alice is a 2010 Encore! Hartford Fellow, a nonprofit leadership development program. She has a bachelor’s in Secondary Education from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and a master’s in Adult Education from Boston University.

Alice Turner is a member of the Hartford Workforce Leaders Academy, Class of 2017-18, one of several Workforce Leadership Academies in localities across North America.

The Workforce Leadership Academies are part of the Economic Opportunity Fellows Network, a network of leadership and fellowship programs run by the Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program.
