Carter Clabaugh

Editorial Production Associate, Office of Curriculum and Moderators, Leadership Division

Carter joins the Aspen Institute as the Editorial Production Associate for the Leadership Division. Originally from the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Carter has a background in publishing and non-profit programs, and brings a keen desire to realize the projects and values of Aspen’s Leadership Division and an ongoing commitment to continuous learning, equity, and accessibility.

Carter holds both a bachelor’s and master’s in English from Penn State University, and served as a Teach for America Greater Tulsa teacher from 2017-2019. During her career in education, Carter also served as an impact manager for City Year Tulsa, an elementary school reading specialist, and an Elevate K-12 online teacher. At the start of the pandemic, Carter shifted her focus to the world of publishing, leading her to complete the Columbia Publishing Course in 2021. Prior to joining Aspen, she worked in sales and marketing at Island Press in DC.

When her nose isn’t in a book, Carter loves hiking with her dog Succotash, birding, and seeing movies at local independent movie theatres.
