David Bevevino

Director, Research & Knowledge Management, College Excellence Program

David Bevevino serves as the Director of Research and Knowledge Management for the Aspen Institute’s College Excellence Program. He provides leadership and oversight of CEP’s efforts to identify transformational strategies that advance student completion, equity, and post-graduation outcomes. His current portfolio includes the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, a study of highly effective rural community colleges, and a multi-year effort to enroll more students in high-value academic and career pathways.

David comes to the College Excellence Program after more than a decade of providing strategic advice and consulting to colleges and universities at EAB, a best practice research and technology firm focused on K12 and higher education. During his time at EAB, David designed client service strategies and research agendas for chief academic officers and community college presidents. He led studies on academic program portfolio management, advancing equity in student outcomes, responding to students of concern, and engaging faculty in student success efforts. He also oversaw the Moon Shot for Equity implementation and technical assistance team that supports colleges and universities in eliminating equity gaps in retention and completion.

David’s career in higher education began when he staffed the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Academic Plan Steering Committee in the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost. He holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Spanish from UNC Chapel Hill.
