Joshua Toler

Fast Track Success Academy, Aspen Young Leaders Fellowship

Before taking on this leadership role at Aspen, Joshua was previously a Newark Youth Ambassador at City Hall for Mayor Baraka. Much like the Aspen Institute, they believe in being change agents of Newark, New Jersey. Joshua spent his time volunteering by giving out mugs of hot chocolate in exchange for a hug or participating in anti-bullying campaigns for children. Joshua is also a part of the Youth Leadership Program for Rutgers University where he studies and dives into the history of Newark, has meaningful discussions about the social system, and what can be done to progress Newark forward and onward to a better future. Joshua has earned the title of one of his school’s leaders and joined the policy council that helps coordinate and shape the school into its true potential. In his free time, he works with his father as the co-owner of a contracting company. Joshua’s personal goal is to become a firefighter and help save the lives of the people around him, and to help his community, and strive for coexistence. Joshua enjoys helping others. He finds joy in life from just seeing the smiles on other’s faces and hearing them laugh, listening to some music, or simply reading a book or playing a game from time to time. If there was a phrase to describe Joshua, it’s “go with the flow and relax while helping as many people as you can along the way.”
