Steven is currently a Senior Manager in Community Investment for United Way of Central and Southeastern Connecticut. His focus area is that of Financial Stability, which includes employment via career pathways, financial literacy programs, and income support services.

Steven has extensive experience in the areas of Workforce Development, Relationship Building, Business Development, and Human Resources. He holds a master’s degree in Industrial Relations from University of New Haven and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Fairfield University.

His early career started as a Human Resources Technology Recruiter for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Greater New York. Later continued his career in Connecticut working for companies and organizations such as Pitney Bowes, Norwalk Hospital, Perkin-Elmer, Park City Hospital, Bridgeport Hospital, Weseley Software, CIGNA Financial Services, G-Log, all in Human Resources management roles. He worked as a Senior Sales Consultant at MYSPORTS Collectibles and a Job Developer/Trainer for the Town of Hamden. He also held the position of Business Services Manager with the American Job Center in New Haven, CT for over 10 years prior to joining United Way.

Steve is actively involved in his community and serves as Chairman of the Board for the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce, Secretary for NeighborWorks New Horizon in New Haven, and Advisor-Board member for the Salvation Army of New Haven. He is also involved in a number of committees such as the Connecticut Asset Building Collaborative, Workforce Solutions Collaborative, and is currently enrolled in the Hartford Workforce Leadership Academy.

Steve Diaz is a member of the Hartford Workforce Leaders Academy, Class of 2017-18, one of several Workforce Leadership Academies in localities across North America.
