Victor "Inuk" Gavilanes is a member of the Aspen Institute Financial Security Program's Community Advisory Group.

Victor “Inuk” Gavilanes is a community organizer in Newark, NJ. Formerly a Housing Organizer with Ironbound Community Corporation, Inuk continues working in the community assisting Newark residents who are facing housing issues & economic disadvantages. For over a decade, Inuk’s passion has always been to educate, empower & uplift his community. As a representative of the Zulu Union & president of the Lost Tribes Foundation, he continues to work as a mentor for youth and as a practicing Shaman that gives spiritual guidance.

Inuk’s experience participating in the CAG has been positive and enlightening & he has learned a lot from the information & stories that the other members shared. From the songs to the prayers made during our calls over this past year, being a part of the CAG has motivated him to want to do more for himself and his community.
