What role can music play in our society? Should artists be more involved in activism? How will art advance our communities, schools and healthcare centers in the 21st century? On March 6, 2013 in Los Angeles, CA, The Aspen Institute Arts Program, in partnership with The Music Center of Los Angeles County, presented a dynamic cast of renowned artists, activists and national arts leaders for a spirited hour of conversation led by Arts Program Director Damian Woetzel. Topics included communication, healing and mobilizing through the arts, interspersed with demonstrations of the arts in action
This discussion/demonstration was the culminating event of the Aspen Arts Strategy Group, which convened 20 artists, policymakers and arts administrators at The Music Center. For more information, visit aspeninstitute.org/arts-program.
