JR: Images of Immigration

June 29, 2015  • Arts Program

2015 Harman-Eisner Artist in Residence JR talked about his short film “Les Bosquets,” inspired by the riots in the French suburbs in 2005, and shared images from his then-recent work on Ellis Island, which focused our eyes on the historic gateway to America, the land of opportunity. Both projects offer different takes on the complex relationships immigrant communities have with the larger communities into which they attempted to integrate. With live performance from 2014 Harman-Eisner Artist in Residence Lil Buck.
