The death of Osama bin Laden, a long-time high priority target for U.S. policymakers, represented a significant victory in the struggle against al Qaeda and its affiliates. Without their charismatic lynchpin, al Qaeda has metastasized and scattered across the Middle East and North Africa. This “network of networks,” so unlike al Qaeda’s former structure, signifies an evolution in terror that will present new challenges to the homeland.

In papers presented during a recent Aspen Homeland Security Group meeting, AHSG members Charles Allen, Michael Leiter, and John McLaughlin offer their insights on the emerging terrorist threat. To access, read, and download their papers, please visit our AHSG Publications page.
