A Prayer, Pádraig Ó Tuama

Meditation

What does it mean to start your day in prayer? Whether rooted in faith, spirituality, or in mindfulness, there is power in the practice of bringing clarity of mind and peace of heart to set the intention for each new day. Pádraig Ó Tuama, a renowned conflict mediator in Northern Ireland, shares this prayer for clarity in a crumbling world. When systems crumble, let us pick up the pieces together. When we’re drowned out by noise, let us return to the sound of the breath. Let us listen, let us redeem ourselves, let us be grounded in this earth and allow ourselves to be succumbed by a sense of awe.

Our lives are murky, magnificent, malleable, and full of meaning. All of these things can be true, and, indeed, all at once. How do you embrace the layers of murkiness, of beauty, of malleability? How do you start your day with the intention to live a meaningful life? As you welcome this day, what are you praying for?
