Aspen Environment Forum: Meet the Speakers

May 18, 2011

As you know, the Aspen Environment Forum will have the biggest names in the field — Bill McKibben, Amory Lovins, Thomas Lovejoy, and Stuart Brand, just to name a few — speaking to the biggest issues of our day. What you may not know, however, is that the Forum also has an incredible line-up of experts and leaders who you might not have known about before. Here are three more great reasons why you should register to be a part of the 2011 AEF!

Ken Banks, founder of kiwanja.net and developer of FrontlineSMS, an award-winning text messaging-based field communication system designed to empower grassroots nonprofit organizations, will speak to how the application of mobile technology bolsters positive global social and environmental shifts from the grassroots level.

As co-director of Energy Action Coalition and Power Shift, just last month Courtney Hight brought 10,000 young climate activists to Washington, DC, to participate in the largest grassroots organizing training in history at Power Shift 2011. Her effort and initiative were rewarded by a surprise appearance by the President himself, Barack Obama. Come listen to Courtney discuss how to organize and build the political power of the millennial generation.

Lonnie Johnson has over 80 issued patents, including the popular Super Soaker water gun. His tenure at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Air Force has him working on multiple space-based programs including the Galileo Mission to Jupiter, the Cassini Mission to Saturn, the Mars Observer project, and the Air Force stealth bomber program. Come hear Lonnie talk about “taking energy storage to a new level.”

These are just three of the amazing and interesting presenters we will have on campus. Please visit our website to see the entire list of speakers as well as descriptions of the panels, plenaries, “in-conversations,” and one-on-one interviews we have in store for you — and to register today.
