Better Lesson

January 19, 2011  • Education Innovation Forum and Expo

BetterLesson is a curriculum-sharing platform that connects educators and allows them to share high-quality documents, lessons, and courses. We are focused on capturing and scaling what works in the classroom. We have developed a freemium business model: Our core site is free in order to provide optimal conditions for growth, and we offer school networks a premium intranet package that includes custom branding, privacy settings, analytics, and the ability to curate and feature content within their network. We launched a private beta in September 2009 and currently have over 12,000 teachers on the site and over 100,000 lesson documents from the highest-performing teachers in the country. We also have five paying school networks, including the national network of KIPP charter schools. We have raised two rounds of funding from NewSchools Venture Fund and have been featured in CNet, Wired, The New York Times, MA High Tech and Scholastic.
