Chapter Heading, Ernest Hemingway

Meditation

There is a disparity between the self that we present to the world, the self that we are today, and the self that we hope to be. In his characteristically sparse lines, Hemingway challenges us to examine the conflict in duality between our inner spirit and the way we live our lives and present to the world. Do you have one, true version of yourself? Do you embrace the pluralism of your identity, or are you more proud to display one version than another? At the end of the day, which self do you turn to?
