Firefly, Chiranan Pitpreecha
Meditation
Fireflies have such a whimsical childhood nostalgia associated with them for me. To see a firefly in adulthood instantly brings me back to memories of galloping around the backyard with cupped hands eagerly grasping towards them, desperate to capture and immortalize the magic of their light. For a child, this notion of fireflies being for the dark, as if they were created to bring light and magic in times when we’re vulnerable and frightened, brings a feeling of deep comfort and intentionality to the natural world.
When flying through the wind and rain, heat and cold, through the world as it really is, how do you continue to be a light? What is the light that comforts you in times of need? How do you take your place among the stars, shining in your own unique way? How do you find meaning in such a place?
