Pursuit of Happiness Hour – Rights and Duties
A weekly series reimagining a better society post COVID-19. Over the last five months we have looked broadly at the social contract, narrowly at the changes we’d like to make within ourselves, and consistently at the changes we’d like to see in society. How do we balance the demands of rights and duties? What are rights, and what does it mean to uphold them? What are duties, and who can impose them? What rights and duties can be enforced? What rights and duties can only be honored voluntarily, whatever the cost of neglecting them?
