Good Technology – Good Democracy?

The first Socrates seminar in Germany will focus on how digital technologies now and in the future may affect our political, economic, and civil-society commitment to a fully functioning democracy, providing a forum for leaders from various professions to convene and explore contemporary issues through expert-moderated dialogue. Join us as we examine the impact of digitalization and artificial intelligence on democracy. Grounded in philosophical principles, the seminar is aimed at a diverse range of participants, offering leaders from business, civil society, politics, journalism, and tech sector the opportunity to consider the emerging and central issues of our future. The seminar aims to foster philosophical reflection on the digital age to help cultivate an internal compass on digitalization, leading to stronger decision-making for a more democratic future.

With the Socrates Seminar, Aspen Germany will honor its 50th Anniversary and demonstrate a deeper connection to the values of an open, democratic society and values-based leadership.

Moderated by Leigh Hafrey, Senior Lecturer in Behavioral and Policy Sciences at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
