Yuliya Tychkivska, Executive Director of the Aspen Institute Kyiv, spoke at this year’s Aspen Ideas Festival 2022 about the dimensions of human tragedy as a result of the war and the propaganda and disinformation efforts used to distort the war.

In the session, A Firsthand Report of Ukrainian Suffering and Resolve, feat. Yuliya Tychkivska and Elliot Gerson, Tychkivska provides a window to see into the human dimensions of tragedy, discussing her own personal emotions and experiences, and of those around her, during the war.

In the second session, The Fog of the War: How Do You Know What To Believe, feat Yuliya Tychkivska, she discusses the propaganda and disinformation tactics used during the war and its effects on trust and security.

Due to Aspen Kyiv’s rich connections to civil society and leading government figures, the Aspen Ideas Festival was honored to invite President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to virtually speak in the Afternoon of Conversation session. Zelenskyy spoke on his views of the war in Ukraine and its global effects, Ukraine’s military and its resilience, and his changed perspective of the world.
