Washington, D.C., November 30, 2020—The fifth annual Aspen Cyber Summit will take place virtually from noon to 3 p.m. ET daily Tuesday, December 1st, through Thursday, December 3rd. This three-day Aspen Institute event will delve into lessons learned throughout a difficult year and a fraught national election, as the country looks ahead to 2021 and a new presidential administration in Washington, D.C.

The Summit will also feature the release of the Aspen Cybersecurity Group’s new national cybersecurity agenda, making this the first major event to launch such a proposal. The report was developed by members of the Institute’s cross-sector, public-private cybersecurity forum, comprising former government officials, Capitol Hill leaders, industry executives, security practitioners, and respected voices from civil society. Its contents are centered on five policy areas where the incoming administration and Congress can make measurable progress in the next four years toward building a more resilient digital society.

This year’s kick-off keynote interview will feature former CISA Deputy Director Matt Travis, who was removed earlier this month by the Trump administration, in conversation with the New York Times’ Kara Swisher. The two will look back at the 2020 election and the disinformation surrounding it.

For day two’s keynote, U.S. Secret Service Director James Murray will be interviewed by NBC News Justice Correspondent Pete Williams about the Secret Service’s efforts to combat transnational cybercrime.

The third day’s opener will feature two top CISOs in the healthcare sector—Johnson & Johnson’s Marene Allison and Eli Lilly’s Meredith Harper. Moderated by NPR Correspondent Dina Temple-Raston, the session will cover efforts to secure the COVID-19 vaccine development and distribution process.

Throughout the three days, the Summit will feature a dynamic lineup of top leaders from business, government, academia, and civil society groups, who will discuss the most pressing threats and policy questions in cybersecurity and technology. Speakers include NSA Cybersecurity Directorate Director Anne Neuberger; Sen. Mark Warner, Vice Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee; Rep. Lauren Underwood, Chair of the House Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Infrastructure Protection, and Innovation; Rep. Will Hurd, Ranking Member of the House Subcommittee on Intelligence Modernization and Readiness, and Co-chair of the Aspen Cybersecurity Group; Cloudflare Co-founder and COO Michelle Zatlyn; Facebook Cybersecurity Policy Head Nathaniel Gleicher; National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency Deputy Director Stacey Dixon; IARPA Director Catherine Marsh; Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Demers; National Counterintelligence and Security Center Director William Evanina; Former Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Sue Gordon; Stanford Internet Observatory Founder Alex Stamos; and CyberPeace Institute Board Member Khoo Boon Hui; as well as top journalists, like WIRED Editor-in-Chief Nicholas Thompson and Fast Company Editor-in-Chief Stephanie Mehta.

The 2020 Aspen Cyber Summit is free and open to the public, and participants must register to attend. In addition, the event will be covered on social media. Follow @AspenDigital and @AspenCyber on Twitter, and join the conversation using #AspenCyber. A full recording of each day will be posted online after-the-fact.
