Aspen Institute Latinos and Society

Our Role in Shaping the Future

Latinos in the U.S. account for nearly 1 in 5 Americans and $3.7 trillion in Gross Domestic Product. As a significant part of the U.S. population, Latinos are key contributors to the economic prosperity of the nation as a whole.

However, large disparities in wealth have long existed. As our society grows increasingly complex, we face significant challenges, but we are also presented with momentous opportunities. Latinos could generate an additional $2.3 trillion if economic parity were achieved.

We believe that business ownership and entrepreneurship, digital skills, and leadership development are the necessary tools for Latinos to build intergenerational wealth to the benefit of the U.S. economy and its global competitiveness.
