This seminar analyzes the culture of Russia’s pre-revolutionary Romantic period. Over two mornings of discussion, the seminar will come before, and after, the Music Festival performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in F-sharp minor, op. 1 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in B minor, op. 74, “Pathétique.”
