On December 8th, Ford Foundation President Darren Walker was presented with the Aspen Institute 2015 Preston Robert Tisch Award in Civic Leadership (read his Aspen Idea blog post on the three obligations of leadership). The award was created in 2009 by Bob Tisch’s children — Laurie, Jonathan, and Steve — to honor their father’s legacy of public service and philanthropy. The program featured Darren Walker in conversation with Aspen Institute President and CEO Walter Isaacson.
Previous winners of the Tisch Award include jazz great and educator Wynton Marsalis, tennis legend and humanitarian Billie Jean King, renowned restaurateur, civic leader and CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group Danny Meyer, and civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis.
