Michèle Flournoy served as Under Secretary of Defense for Policy in the Obama Administration, and was the principal adviser to the Secretary of Defense in the formulation of national security and defense policy, oversight of military plans and operations, and in National Security Council deliberations. Ms. Flournoy has received several awards from the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and is a member of the Defense Policy Board, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Aspen Strategy Group.

Anne-Marie Slaughter is the Bert G. Kerstetter ’66 University Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University. From 2009–2011 she served as Director of Policy Planning for the United States Department of State, the first woman to hold that position. Upon leaving the State Department she received the Secretary’s Distinguished Service Award for her work leading the Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review.
