These new grantees collectively represent a diverse set of programming that will explore topics such as STEM, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and pressing global and societal issues, all with inclusivity at the forefront.

This year’s event will feature 20 teams from New York Public Schools, each presenting their community change projects to their peers and a panel of judges made up of community leaders from New York City.

The celebrated artistic director will participate in Aspen Institute programming and initiatives throughout the year.

This year’s winners both serve large rural areas with high rates of poverty and low rates of educational attainment. These challenges make their achievements in graduation rates and post-graduation success for students especially notable:

The 2023 Food Leaders Fellows include entrepreneurs, investors, and civic and nonprofit leaders dedicated to changing the food system to eradicate food and nutrition insecurity, support entrepreneurs and farmers, and push forward sustainable solutions. 

The Haunting of Hajji Hotak and Other Stories, a powerful short story collection about Afghans, Afghan Americans and the surreal, violent aftershocks of state violence.

The study provides valuable insights into what makes a successful green entrepreneurship ecosystem, identifying key factors such as access to funding, supportive policy frameworks, and strong networks of like-minded businesses. 

Higher Ed Climate Action will accelerate higher education’s already impressive progress on climate action, create an overarching framework for its unique role, and identify policies to scale climate action across the sector. 

The event saw 19 Orleans Parish high school teams compete in five challenge topic areas: mental health, climate change, food insecurity, housing insecurity, and gun violence.
