Aspen is a place for leaders to lift their sights above the possessions which possess them. To confront their own nature as human beings, to regain control over their own humanity by becoming more self-aware, more self-correcting, and hence more self-fulfilling.
Arisaid Gonzalez Porrasis the Operations Coordinator for Aspen Challenge. Originally hailing from Veracruz, Mexico, she has called Arizona her home for many years. She holds a degree in American Studies with a minor in Spanish from Georgetown University. Before Aspen Challenge, she served as the Campaigns Manager for United We Dream in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia region, the largest immigrant youth-led organization in the United States. It was during her time with UWD that Arisaid discovered her voice and began sharing her compelling journey, shedding light on her life as an undocumented individual in Arizona and as a DACA, first generation, low-income student. Although her focus has shifted from grassroots organizing for the immigrant rights movement, she is eager to expand her knowledge of various social justice issues affecting communities nationwide. Brings her joy to participate in the creation of a platform that elevates youth voices and fosters self-empowerment. In addition to finding Arisaid mentoring, she is an avid movie watcher, jigsaw puzzle enthusiast, and coffee aficionado.
