Tianyu Terry Zhu is Managing Partner at Lanchi Ventures, where he plays a pivotal role in shaping the venture firm’s investment strategy, particularly in early-stage startups.

Zhu’s professional journey began with a strong academic foundation in finance, and he has maintained a consistent focus on venture capital throughout his career. Before joining Lanchi, Zhu worked at prominent tech companies like NetEase, where he managed strategic partnerships and mergers and acquisitions. He later transitioned to the investment sector by joining Baidu’s investment team, where he gained a broad perspective on various industries.

At Lanchi Ventures, Zhu is known for his methodical and insightful approach to venture capital. He led early investments in several successful startups, including as an early investor of Li Auto and Moonshot, which have made significant impacts in their respective fields. Beyond his venture capital work, Zhu is deeply involved in social impact initiatives. He has supported projects that focus on education, healthcare accessibility and disability Integration, demonstrating his commitment to using technology and innovation for societal good.

Terry is the founder of the Beijing Lanchi Foundation and the Lanchi Octava Social Venture Fund (established in 2017 and 2023 respectively); additionally, he serves as a director of the China Donor Roundtable (CDR) and has been a director of the educational non-profit organization Growing Home for over 10 years. Terry Zhu was educated at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Terry Zhu is a Fellow of the 2024 Class of the Aspen Institute’s China Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
