Giulio Tremonti has been a professor since 1974, and currently teaches at the University of Pavia Law School. His published books: “La paura e la speranza – Europa: la crisi globale che si avvicina e la via per superarla” (Mondadori – 2008), “Rischi fatali – L’Europa vecchia, la Cina, il mercatismo suicida: come reagire” (Mondadori – 2005), “Lo Stato criminogeno” (Laterza – 1997), “Il fantasma della povertà” (Mondadori – 1995). With G. Vitaletti: “Il federalismo fiscale” (Laterza – 1994), “La fiera delle tasse” (Il Mulino – 1991), “Le cento tasse degli italiani” (Il Mulino – 1986). His articles appear in Europe’s principal newspapers. Giulio Tremonti has been a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Comparative Law, Oxford. He has participated in many debates and conferences, in Italy and abroad (“Oxford Union Society”; “Cambridge Union Society”; “Humboldt Universität). He is co-editor of “Rivista di diritto finanziario e scienza delle finanze” (Review of tax law and financial sciences). He is a member of the Moral Sciences class of the Lombard Academy of Sciences and Letters. He is Chairman of Aspen Institute Italia.

He is Minister of Economy and Finance as of May 2008 (fourth Berlusconi government) and a member of the Italian Parliament since 1994. He is Vice President of Forza Italia. He was Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies from May 2006 to May 2008. He was Deputy Prime Minister from April 2005 to May 2006 (third Berlusconi government). He was Minister of Economy and Finance from June 2001 to July 2004 and from September 2005 to May 2006 (second and third Berlusconi governments). He served as Finance Minister from May 1994 to January 1995 (first Berlusconi government).

He is Attorney at Law, admitted to the Supreme Courts.
