2018 Aspen Energy Week: Designing Transitions for the New Energy Economy

ASPEN ENERGY WEEK is a four-day, four-night forum held from July 12 – 16, 2018, in Aspen, CO, and will be co-chaired by Ernest Moniz, President and CEO of the Energy Futures Initiative, and Andy Karsner, Managing Partner of the Emerson Collective.

ASPEN ENERGY WEEK will gather a diverse group of entrepreneurs, policy makers, industry executives and thought leaders to discuss critical factors at the forefront of the energy transition. Forum session topics will include states as policy laboratories, distributed energy resource systems, blockchain technology, mobility and clean vehicles, social equity in the clean energy transition, infrastructure finance, tax policy, technology development and deployment for decarbonization, regulatory innovation, and resiliency in the electricity system.

The theme for this year’s forum is DESIGNING TRANSITIONS FOR THE NEW ENERGY ECONOMY and will feature Aspen’s time-honored moderated roundtable discussion format. While each session will be introduced with brief presentations by discussants, the majority of time will be reserved for dialogue among all participants. We also plan to feature an Aspen-style seminar on the energy transition for forum participants as well as public sessions to introduce key ideas from the forum to the broader community. The forum is enhanced by an informal atmosphere and a not-for-attribution rule that encourages new thinking, differences in opinions and candid dialogue.
