HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA AT ASPEN:
A CELEBRATION OF TIBETAN CULTURE
Aspen, CO, February 15, 2008––The Aspen Institute and Co-Chairs Margot Pritzker and Richard Blum, in collaboration with the Washington, DC-based Conservancy for Tibetan Art and Culture, are proud to present a substantive symposium that embraces Tibetan and Himalayan art, culture, science, medicine, spiritual practice, and history. This program, in compliance with the guidelines of the Office of Tibet, will take place on the campus of the Aspen Institute in Aspen, CO, on July 24-26, 2008, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama will keynote the festivities with a talk and a special conversation. Registration for this symposium program opens to the public on Monday, February 18.
This three-day program will include eminent Tibetan Buddhist scholars, practitioners, and tradition-bearers who will address attendees through panel discussions, presentations, and breakout sessions. In addition, ongoing interactive demonstrations of ancient Tibetan and Himalayan arts will provide an opportunity for tradition-bearers and program participants to meet in an intimate environment.
“I am deeply honored to welcome His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Aspen Institute for this commemoration of Tibetan culture,” said President and CEO Walter Isaacson. “It is our core mission to foster and promote enlightened leadership and open-minded dialogue. The Dalai Lama embraces these ideals, and we are tremendously privileged to have the opportunity to present his unique and remarkable perspective to members of both the Aspen Institute and the Aspen community.”
