Alex Wilson is Head of CIBC’s Structured Finance business, with leadership responsibility for a team of more than 50 professionals across London, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, and Sydney. He oversees financing and capital markets activity across Energy, Infrastructure, Natural Resources, and Financial Markets, and brings more than 25 years of international experience across Europe, North America, and Asia.
Over the course of his career, Alex has advised on a broad range of complex and strategic transactions, building deep expertise in structured finance and global capital markets. He has held senior leadership responsibilities across multiple jurisdictions and developed a strong reputation for leading teams, managing risk, and delivering client outcomes in dynamic and evolving markets, positioning himself as a senior leader within CIBC’s international platform.
Alex graduated from Keele University with a BA Dual Honours degree in Business & German and also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. He was also once a Chartered Marketer.
Alongside his business responsibilities, Alex plays an active role in CIBC’s broader leadership and governance agenda. He serves as Senior Officer Outside of Australia (SOOA) for CIBC’s operations and is a member of CIBC’s Global Sustainability Council and Global Diversity & Inclusion Committee.
Beyond CIBC, Alex is engaged in leadership development and the innovation ecosystem. He mentors for Techstars and Portfolio Ventures and is an angel investor in more than 50 UK climate and fintech companies. Alex is a Fellow of the ninth class of the Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network
