Geraldo Thomaz is the co-founder and co-CEO of VTEX, the global enterprise digital commerce platform, which he leads alongside co-founder Mariano Gomide de Faria. He has held the co-CEO role since the company’s inception and has served as co-chairman of the board since 2019. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Geraldo studied Mechanical Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He developed the VTEX platform under its SaaS model and today leads the company’s Research & Development teams. Under his leadership, VTEX went public on the NYSE in 2021, where it trades under the ticker VTEX. Beyond VTEX, Geraldo has served since 2021 as a board member of Instituto Reditus, a cause closely tied to his own alma mater. Reditus is an endowment fund created by UFRJ students and alumni to expand educational opportunities across the university community—the second-largest university endowment in Brazil. It channels its resources into two main programs: financial aid and a support network for low-income students, and grants that fund innovation projects developed by UFRJ students and faculty. Through scholarships, mentorship, and project funding, the organization works to strengthen the UFRJ community and foster a culture of giving back. Gerlado is a Fellow of the ninth class of the Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
