Gillian Tan is assistant managing director and group head of the Development and International Group of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), where she oversees the development of Singapore’s financial centre and MAS’ international relations. Gillian was previously tasked with centralising and leading MAS’ enforcement function, investigating breaches of anti-money laundering regulations and market misconduct offences. Gillian also served as a criminal prosecutor and district judge, hearing both civil and criminal cases.
Gillian co-chairs industry groups for the private banking, funds and human resources industry in Singapore, and serves on a number of boards, including Financing Asia’s Transition Partnership, a $5 billion blended finance initiative with public, private and philanthropic capital, and Infrastructure Asia, which supports Asia’s growth through infrastructure development. She also chairs a nonprofit providing addiction recovery and support for the families of persons-in-recovery.
She was awarded the Beyond Second Chances award in 2026, the Fin-Erth Climate Award in 2025 and the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in 2018 in recognition of her contributions to public service. Gillian earned her law degree from Cambridge University with First Class Honours and a Master of Laws from Harvard Law School.
