Irina Kofman is vice president of strategic initiatives and operations at OpenAI, where she oversees operations across product, launches, users, and organizational systems to help translate frontier AI research into products and experiences used around the world. She focuses on building the operating models and cross-functional partnerships that enable innovation to scale responsibly while advancing OpenAI’s mission to ensure artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. Before joining OpenAI, Irina held leadership roles at Meta and Google, where she helped build the teams, programs, and operational foundations behind some of the world’s leading AI organizations. At Meta, she led program and product organizations spanning artificial intelligence, generative AI, and responsible AI.

Earlier, as a founding member of the Google AI team, she helped establish Google’s early AI initiatives and supported the integration of DeepMind into Google, fostering collaboration across research, engineering, and product teams. Her work centers on helping organizations navigate periods of rapid technological change by pairing technical ambition with strong operational leadership. Irina earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master’s degree from Boston University. Irina is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Technology Leaders Initiative of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
