Katie Gottschalk, JD, LLM is director of the Perinatal Standard of Care Initiative and managing director of the Health, Medicine, & Society Program. She is a leader in global health law and international development, working across organizations including the Aspen Institute and Global Health Law Strategies, among others. Prior to these roles, she was executive director of the O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University Law Center. Under her leadership, the O’Neill Institute grew to a full-time staff of 80 health law experts while establishing six new priority areas and Georgetown’s first three soft-funded, cross-campus programs. Gottschalk has also served as executive director of the Center for Global Health and Diplomacy, where she provided strategic guidance on global health security issues and managed high-profile convenings at the UN General Assembly, World Economic Forum, and World Health Assembly. Gottschalk is a visiting professor of law at Georgetown, teaching courses on global health law, human rights, and health policy. Her work focusing on the intersection of law, health equity, and international development appears in publications including The Lancet, Health Affairs, and the Journal of Law, Medicine & Ethics.
