Mahesh Sudhakaran is general manager of Grid Software at GE Vernova, where he leads a global software business at the heart of the world’s electricity system. His team builds the digital backbone of a rapidly electrifying world: the software, AI, and expert services that help the world’s largest utilities, energy markets, and data centers keep electricity flowing safely, reliably and affordably.
Before GE Vernova, Mahesh spent over a decade at IBM, where he rose to lead its Energy, Sustainability & Utilities division and transformed the multibillion-dollar business from traditional services into software-led growth. He started his career at Schneider Electric, developing industrial technologies. Over two decades and across more than seven countries, he has built and scaled technology businesses within regulated industries. Mahesh is a fellow of the Energy Institute and has served on the board of the GridWise Alliance. He holds a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, India, and an MBA from the University of Cambridge. Mahesh is a Fellow of the inaugural class of the Technology Leaders Initiative of the Aspen Institute and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
