Brendesha Tynes

Brendesha Tynes is a professor of education and psychology at the University of Southern California. She is also founding director of the Center for Empowered Learning and Development with Technology. Tynes’ research focuses on how people learn about race in digital spaces, anti-racist online learning, online racism, and the design of technologies that empower students of color. She is currently working on a digital platform called CRITmetic that will train users in critical race digital literacy skills, including recognizing algorithmic bias. Tynes has received numerous awards for her research, including the AERA Early Career Award and Spencer Foundation Midcareer Award.
