Aspen is a place for leaders to lift their sights above the possessions which possess them. To confront their own nature as human beings, to regain control over their own humanity by becoming more self-aware, more self-correcting, and hence more self-fulfilling.
Maya Pendleton is a member of SaverLife’s Research and Policy team. As Senior Research Manager, she leads SaverLife’s climate change research portfolio, which examines how climate change impacts household financial health. Most recently, she led a research initiative on energy cost burden that explored how rising utility costs affect families’ ability to meet basic needs and build financial stability. Before joining SaverLife, Maya worked at the Center for the Study of Social Policy, where she focused on advancing more equitable policies and practices for children and families. She also served at the District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent of Education, where she supported efforts to strengthen public systems. These experiences ground her work in a deep understanding of how public systems operate and how inequities show up in policy and practice. Maya is formally trained in mixed-methods research and uses diverse data approaches to inform policy solutions aimed at addressing poverty and systemic racial inequities. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University and her Master of Public Policy from the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration at George Washington University.
