Nonie K. Lesaux is a Canadian-American education researcher and academic leader known for her work on literacy development, language acquisition, and educational equity. She is the Roy E. Larsen Professor of Education and Human Development at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she has also served in senior leadership roles, including dean. Lesaux’s research focuses on improving reading comprehension and academic outcomes for children, particularly those from linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds. Her work bridges research, policy, and practice, helping educators design effective literacy instruction and informing education policy in the United States and beyond.
She has advised governments and organizations on education reform and has contributed to national panels and initiatives aimed at advancing early childhood and K–12 education. Lesaux is widely recognized for translating complex research into actionable strategies for schools and communities, making her a leading voice in literacy and education equity.
