This paper presents the first set of findings from the Asset Building through Credit Pilot program, a demonstration that explored the use of secured credit card, teamed with credit coaching, as a tool to help entrepreneurs to build their credit. The program was managed by FIELD, in partnership with Justine PETERSEN, with financial support provided by the Citi Foundation. The first publication focused on learnings on critical issues relating to the practice of delivering a secured card, including the ideal customer profile, card approval rates, the demographic and credit profiles of cardholders at the time of application and preliminary findings on credit score outcomes.
