Courts have always played an important role in setting labor policy. Two employment-related cases drew headlines in the last Supreme Court term – Janus and Epic Systems – while lower courts across the country are determining the rules for non-compete clauses, no-poaching agreements, employee classification, and more. Our event, “The Justice System and Jobs: How Court Decisions Are Shaping Americans’ Work Lives,” explores how court decisions are shaping the experience of work today. Here is a quick overview of relevant cases and a brief timeline of major elements of federal labor law.
