Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD), Michigan’s largest school district, serves more than 53,000 students in grades PK-12 across more than 100 Title I schools.
Our vision is that all students will have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in our city, our nation, and our world. Our mission is to educate and empower every student, in every community, every day, to build a stronger Detroit.
Through our Blueprint 2027 strategic plan and High School Redesign initiative, DPSCD is expanding access to Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Dual Enrollment, and other college and career-ready coursework. Over the past three years, student participation and college credit attainment through high-quality academic coursework has significantly increased, and we are committed to accelerating that progress. By 2027, we aim for 70% of high school students to successfully participate in these opportunities.
DPSCD is joining the Social Mobility Leadership Network because a student’s ZIP code or family background should never determine access to life-changing educational opportunities. Alongside our SMLN peers, we will work to strengthen the systems that prepare every student to become a scholar, leader, and professional who contributes to stronger families, stronger neighborhoods, and a stronger Detroit.
