We are highlighting the stories of how people became excited by science. Our goals are twofold:
1) Garner public trust in scientific research.
2) Inspire younger generations to see that early moments of passion for science can fuel long and successful careers.

The 17th Berlin Debate explored the role of public engagement in ensuring that science serves society and its needs, and that society is fully capable of harnessing the power of scientific knowledge to achieve greater well-being for people and planet. Check out the discussion in the report.

“Sustainable relationships are built with the speed of communities’ trust,” says our Civic Science Fellow, Jylana Sheats. She shares research insights, best practices for engaging communities, and examples of community-led solution building to increase food access. Sheats describes how anti-racist approaches to systemic inequities that incorporate lived experience and avoid single-story narratives are tools to change the status quo.

One Health / One Planet offers wide-ranging perspectives on climate change, infectious disease, and the intersection between the two. The Future of Science in America explores challenges and opportunities for science as we elected our next national and local leaders, through 15 lenses: Scientists, Public Opinion, Government, Television, Immigration, Racial Equity, Education, Technology, Voters, Experts, Social Media, Youth, Supreme Court, Navajo Nation, and Civic Science.

The Pandemic Issue investigates big-picture ways that science innovation and communication can usher in a more equitable, more progress-oriented, and safer world, through the lenses of ten forces pushing the needle toward progress: Places, Philanthropists, Celebrities, Whistleblowers, Companies, Media, Products, Politicians, Scientists, and Actions.

They look like scientific papers. But they’re distorting and killing science.
